  1. TV commercials often use very short songs, called 'jingles' to make their product or some of the features of their product easy to remember. Tell us about a well known or famous jingle in Japan.
  2. Japanese TV commercials can often command a big budget and attract internationally famous actors, sports personalities or celebrities. Tell us about a TV commercial in Japan (past or present) that features or has featured a foreign star. What do they (the star) do in the ad?
  3. Some TV commercials are very seasonal or tied to specific holidays or events. For example, in the US, beer commercials are common during, or in the lead up to, The Super Bowl. Tell us a TV commercial or product that is seasonal and on heavy rotation only during specific times of the year in Japan.
  4. When an advertising agency or TV production company really nails it, they can create a TV commercial that runs for a very long time (often with the same celebrity). Tell us about a TV commercial that has been a 'long runner' in Japan. Who is in it? What is the product? Why is it popular do you think?
  5. Some Japanese celebrities are lucky enough to get a significant amount of money each time they appear on a TV commercial. Tell us about a Japanese celebrity who makes a lot of money from TV commercials. What do they advertise? Why do you think these ads are so appealing to consumers?
  6. Some celebrities have lost their advertising contracts dues to scandals that their corporate sponsors wish to distance themselves from. Tell us about one such scandal. Who was the star? What were they selling? What did they do that caused such a scandal?
