EY Y02 L40 Air Travel

  1. There are many famous airports in Japan. Name one. What can you tell me about this airport?
  2. Have you ever flown in an airplane? If yes, when was the last time? How was it? Why? If no, why not?
  3. Using air travel, we feel like we can go anywhere. However, air travel has some disadvantages. Name one. Have you ever experienced that?
  4. Air travel is very safe and yet many people are afraid of flying. Do you share that fear? Why?

  6. With widespread air travel come air disasters. Tell me about a famous air disaster in your country. What happened?

Question 1

KIX (Kansai International Airport) is probably my favorite airport in Japan. It is located in Osaka, Japan. It is a spacious airport that has two terminals. There are a lot of duty-free shops that always make me want to shop as the prices are always cheaper than the shops that you find downtown. There are also restaurants that open quite early in the day. I usually have a meal at one of the restaurants before I go on a flight since airplane foods are bland.

Question 2

I usually fly at least 4-5 times a year. However, ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started, I haven't been flying much. The last time I flew on an airplane was last year. It was when I returned to Japan just days before the lockdown started. The experience was not pleasant as I was anxious most of the time. I had to wear a mask when sleeping and it was just not comfortable. I think I'm having travel withdrawal symptoms as I miss traveling and flying on an airplane so much.

Question 3

Some disadvantages that I always experience are muscle aches and blocked ears due to cabin pressure. I always have to yawn to get rid of blocked ears. I hope that someone finds a way to prevent this from happening!

Question 4

I don't share the fear as I have been flying since when I was a baby. My mother and father share the same passion for traveling. Flying on an airplane has been a very normal thing for me so I don't really share the fear of flying.

Question 5

I would probably go to Africa as I have many friends who live in Kenya, Nigeria, and Somalia. I'm also fascinated by various cultures that my African friends have introduced me so I think it'd be really cool to visit the continent one day!

Question 6

There have been countless aviation disasters in Indonesia. The infamous 'Lion' air has been dubbed the most dangerous airline to fly with by a lot of aviation experts. I never fly with that airline as the thought of having to do an emergency landing is very scary. I would never recommend anyone fly with Lion Air.
