Question 1

As I only know about taxes in Japan, I think that the pension service tax is pretty high. Even when I was still a university student, the total amount of money that I had to pay adds up to more than 600.000 yen.

Question 2

I think Japan spends the tax that its citizens pay on various sectors. One of them is monthly support for the elderly. I can't say if it is spent wisely or not since economic experts consider the tax allocation system in Japan a mystery.

Question 3

In the case of Indonesia, I heard that the amnesty tax requires business owners to pay way more than regular workers. I believe that this is inequitable.

Question 4

When I go on a shopping spree in Europe, I use my status as a traveler to avoid consumption tax. Taking an example, I would get more than $100 back when buying a bag or shoes for $1000.

Question 5

Recently, I have noticed that there are more and more homeless people in Kyoto. This is most likely because of the pandemic. I would build a homeless shelter and allocate some of the tax money to homeless people so that they have another chance at living decent lives.

Question 6

I would tax tobacco way more than how much it is taxed right now. It's bad for both the smokers and passive smokers' lives. I would make it similar to how much it is taxed in Australia.
