  1. There are many people on TV who flaunt their money. Name one. Why are they rich? How do they flaunt their wealth?
  2. Who is the richest person you know? How did they get rich? Are they humble with their wealth?
  3. Everyone has a difficult relationship with money. Tell me one way in which you are prudent or spendthrift (e.g. where do you try to save money)?
  4. Tell me one way in which you are extravagant or wasteful (e.g. what you are prepared to spend more than the average person on)?
  5. Tell us about 3 things you would do if you won $1million (1億円) in the lottery tomorrow?
  6. Would winning the lottery or getting rich through inheritance or investment have a positive or negative impact on your life? Why do you think so?

Question 1

I think that Kanye West, who is an American rapper, flaunts his money. He buys and wears a lot of expensive clothing and jewellery.

Question 2

The richest person that I have known was my friends father in my home town. He owns a painting and decorating company. He has many important and famous clients.

Question 3

I try not to buy snacks at 7 / 11. It is not good for my health and my wallet. I usually buy two things when I go there and it ends up costing about 300 yen. If I do that 5 times a week that is 1,500 yen. Over a month it is 6,000 yen !!! That is quite a lot of money.

My wife likes to buy fancy dog food for our pug as she really dislikes the smell of the regular dog food.

1. I would buy a new house with a nice little garden. I have a design in mind. 2. I would buy a VIP ticket and 1st class airplane ticket to watch my favorite rugby team play at their home ground. 3. I would buy a present for my mother and father.

Question 6

Many people say negative, but I disagree. I think it would have a positive influence on my life. I have learnt in life that money comes easily and goes easily so I should respect the money I have at the moment. I do not think I would change but my wife on the other hand.....
