Question 1

The landmark that stands out to me the most is Big Ben. It was completed in 1859 and is currently under renovation. Big Ben is actually the name of the largest of the five bells, weighing over 13 tons. The tower itself is actually called Elizabeth Tower.

Question 2

I have seen the tower in person, but I only took a photo from the outside. I didn't have time to go inside, but if I ever go to London again I would like to.

Question 3

I suppose it is similar to Tokyo due to being a massive city with reliable public transportation. Other than that, I think there are a lot more cultural differences.

Question 4

I personally am not a fan of big cities, so I would not like to live there. I feel stressed if there are constantly too many people around and the environment is noisy. Visiting was fantastic, but like Tokyo, I can't stay for more than a couple of days.

Question 5

When I visited the UK in late spring it was rainy on most days and while I was in London it rained constantly. Maybe summer would be better.

Question 6

I would like to go inside Elizabeth Tower next time. I would also like to spend more time just walking around and enjoying the street views (as long as it's not raining).

Question 1

I am fascinated with St. Paul's Cathedral. I've only seen it in architectural history books. Originally it was a Gothic-designed church but after the Great Fire, it was rebuilt by Sir Cristopher Wren in English Baroque style. It has a majestic dome and up until the 2oth century, it was the tallest building on the city skyline.

Question 2

I have never been anywhere in London but I would definitely like to visit one day. There are so many landmarks to visit and I think it would be a great cultural experience.

Question 3

My impression of capital cities is that people always live fast-paced lives. They can conveniently go to shops and restaurants but it comes with a price because the living cost will be higher than in other areas.

Question 4

I have a friend who works as an accountant in London. She seems to enjoy the lifestyle there. Living there might be a good experience but I can't imagine myself living there long-term. As much as possible I want to live somewhere in Asia so that I can easily go home to the Philippines if I get extremely homesick.

Question 5

Perhaps late spring is a great time to visit London. I've read that it's one of the peak tourist seasons so flights and hotel prices will certainly reflect the surge. However, if you are traveling as a tourist why not splurge and enjoy the most out of it?

Question 6

I will visit several architectural landmarks and visit some Harry Potter filming locations. I'm a huge Potter fan and would put Platform 9 3/4: Kings Cross Station on top of my list. I'd also like to see a famous commercial tower, St Mary Axe (The Gherkin). It was designed by a world-renowned firm and I'm curious to see the interior spaces.
