This week’s Questions

  1. Tell us about a song you used to listen to all the time when you were younger. When was the last time you listened to this song? Why did you like this song so much?
  2. Tell us about a TV show you used to watch when you were a child. What was the show about? Who were the main characters?
  3. Tell us about a food you used to like but haven’t eaten for a long time. Is this a snack food or something you would eat as a meal? Why has it been so long since you’ve eaten it: is it no longer available, did you have to make changes to your diet, or was it for another reason?
  4. Tell us about a place you used to go on vacation with your family. How did you get there: by car, train, bus, plane, or some other method? What did you use to do there? When was the last time you visited there?
  5. Tell us about a person you used to be friends with but no longer have contact with. Why did you lose contact with them? Would you like to see them or speak to them again? Why?
  6. Do you ever wish that you could revisit a time in your past or do you think that “the good old days” are best left behind you? If you could go back to any time in your life, when would you choose to revisit? Why? If you have no interest in revisiting the past, why not?

Question 1

When I was around 10 years I used to listen to "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin a lot. I know that I have listened to it within the last six months, but I am unsure when.

Question 2

I used to watch an Irish comedy called "Father Ted". It was about 3 Irish priests who had misbehaved in some way and were sent to a remote island with few people to look after a church and its followers. There were many ridiculous and hilarious adventures.

Question 3

I haven't eaten lamb chops for a long time. Lamb is a very common delicacy in my home town but I rarely see it on menus in Japan.

Question 4

We used to go to the beach which is fairly close to my home. Maybe it took 30 minutes to drive there. I have not been to that beach for 15 years or so. It has been a long time.

Question 5

There are many elementary school friends that I have lost contact with because we moved on with our lives.

Question 6

I wish I could go back to my teens and tell myself to not get too stressed about school work and that things will work out for the best.

Question 1

I used to listen to a song by a band called Paramore called “The Only Exception.” The last time I listened to this song was probably before I moved to Japan. I like this song so much because my small group of friends and I used to sing it every time we go on trips and it always reminded us of the good ol’ middle school days when we had our first relationships.

Question 2

One show that comes to mind is “Blue’s clues.” It’s an adorable show about a guy named Steve with a dog called “Blue.” They’re always trying to solve a puzzle or find out about something that makes the audience think with them. I still feel like a child whenever I see Steve’s face or even just an Instagram post about how this show made our childhood awesome!

Question 3

My mom used to make me a special chicken soup called “Cia Po” on special occasions. This soup is made of black chicken broth, which is incredibly hard to find. Ever since I moved abroad, I haven’t had the chance to eat my mom’s specialty soup. I really miss it.

Question 4

We used to go to an area in Singapore called Orchard to go shopping. They would have massive discounts during Christmas eve and we would splurge on clothes, bags, shoes, and all those good stuff. The last time I visited this shopping area was about three years ago before the pandemic started. I also used to go with my friends there to enjoy Singapore’s iconic ice cream sandwich under the hot sun.

Question 5

I used to be very close with someone who I considered my big sister. Her name’s Melissa and we would hang out all the time. I would go to Osaka on Saturdays to accompany her to take her weekly Japanese classes. I’d wait at Doutor reading books or playing mobile games to kill time. At one point, we even climbed Mt. Fuji together during a typhoon. It was some of the best moments of my life. We had each other’s back and even shared the most sensitive secrets about ourselves. If I have the chance, I’d do anything to be able to speak to her again or even meet her for just one day.

Question 6

I would definitely revisit my childhood. Things were so straightforward back then. I felt so close to my family and simple things fulfilled me. With that being said, I believe that the past is also there as our greatest teacher. I learned to adapt and push forward to be the best version of myself especially after I graduated from university.
